Govt must test water quality at landfill sites twice yearly – MPs LISTEN 3 HOURS AGO The central government has been asked to ensure that the testing of the quality of water at the various landfills is done at least twice every year. Making the call, members of Parliament (MPs) of three Parliamentary Select Committees Local Government and Local Government and Rural Development, Works and Housing, and Environment contended that it was good UNICEF was supporting the metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (MMDAs) to test the quality of water at the landfills across the country. The MPs made the call on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, during a working visit to the Gbalahi landfill site at the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly, Northern Region. ....
Harrisburg, Pa. â A bill to allow municipal officials to meet remotely even after the COVID-19 emergency ends was introduced on Friday in the state House of Representatives. Title 35 was changed last April to allow municipalities to remotely meet during disaster emergencies but boroughs must resume in-person meetings once the current emergency ends. The bill introduced by Rep. Perry S. Warren (D-Bucks) would amend Title 8, the Borough Code, so that remote participation always would be sufficient to constitute a quorum. Local officials and the public could meet via devices that allow for audio communication at a minimum, such as phones or computer terminals. ....
The Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr George Boakye, has said the Integrated Recycling and Composting Plant (IRECOP) being constructed in the region by Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) will provide enough fertiliser for the region. He said the siting of the project in the region, being a food basket of the country, would make it a hub of fertiliser production and by extension massive food production. The regional minister made the statement last Friday at Goaso in the Ahafo Region when the Parliamentary Select Committees on Local Government, Science, Environment and Technology, Finance and Works and Housing, who were on a working visit to inspect works on the IRECOP project, paid a courtesy call on him at the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC). ....
