The Senate on Monday took a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his appointment of a Sole Administrator for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC as illegal and alien to the Act establishing the Commission.
Speaking on Monday, in Abuja prior to the passage of the NDDC 2020 Budget Estimates during plenary, President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan noted that though the role of the Sole Administrator is unknown to the law just like the Interim Management Committee, but the Senate opposed the IMC’s dealings with Senate committees, because it was indicted in the embezzlement of four billion, nine million naira under the guise of COVID relief. ....

Senate Passes N453.2bn NDDC Budget for 2020

The Nigerian Senate has passed the Niger Delta Development Commission’s N453,200,000,000 budget for 2020.
The budget for the Commission covers capital, personnel expenditure, Overhead Expenditure, Internal Capital Expenditure and Development Projects for the period ending on March 31, 2021.
The passage of the budget was as a result of the consideration of the report by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta North that the Senate “do receive and consider the report of the Committee on the 2020 Budget estimates…”
The Committee on Niger Delta chairman, Senator Nwaoboshi, who laid the NDDC budget before the Senate said that the Committee carried out a holistic oversight of the Commission and noted that the developmental aspect of the budget was basically a rollover of the 2019 Budget which was in furtherance of the drive to ensure completion of ongoing projects. ....

House Passes N453bn NDDC 2020 Budget

The House of Representatives yesterday approved N453,200,000,000 2020 budget for Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to cover the capital, personnel expenditure and other cost of the commission for the period ending on 31 March 2021.
The approval followed the consideration of the report by the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission at the plenary.
Laying the report, the Chairman of the Committee on NDDC, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated that the committee carried out a holistic oversight of the commission and the report is aimed at placing the commission in the most optimal position to effectively execute its statutory mandate to Nigerians. ....

The House of Representatives, on Thursday, passed into law the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC’s N453,200,000,000 budget for 2020.
The sum covers the capital, personnel expenditure, and other costs of the Commission for the period ending on March 31, 2021.
The passage of the budget was sequel to the consideration of the report by the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission at the Committee of Supply.
Laying the report before the plenary, the Chairman of the Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated that the Committee “carried out a holistic oversight of the Commission and the report is aimed at placing the Commission in the most optimal position to effectively execute its statutory mandate to Nigerians.” ....
