SPENCER Sen. Anne M. Gobi (D-Spencer) has returned to the State House for the 2021-2022 legislative session. With the Senate ratifying assignments, Gobi has been reappointed Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Higher Education, and will now serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Redistricting. Additionally, she will continue to serve as a member on the powerful Senate Ways and Means Committee.

Major road work near airport
MassDOT roadwork is underway on Route 28 near the Yarmouth Town Line. The project location is the railroad crossing near Willow Street and Yarmouth Road. The existing railroad tracks are being replaced and utilities relocated.
The work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. and continue 24/7 for three weeks, through March 21. A section of Route 28 will be closed between the airport rotary and Yarmouth Road/Willow Street, with police details onsite. Drivers should expect delays and reroute.
Vehicles travelling west on Route 28 from Yarmouth to Hyannis will need to drive north or south on Yarmouth Road/Willow Street. Vehicles traveling east on Route 28 form the airport rotary will need to follow detour signs south on Barnstable Road and back to Route 28 via East Main Street. The Dennis-Yarmouth Woman s Club has supported the community for 25 years. Members of the club recently donated $1,700 to the Veterans Home in Dennis. In addition, club members donated $450 of kitchen utensils and supplies for their use.
As a member of the General Federation of Women s Clubs of Massachusetts, the club is dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service and, with your help, plans to continue its support to Cape Cod and Islands Veterans Outreach.

MELROSE, MA State Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian s first year in office has been, in a word, weird. Mostly because she s never been in the actual office.
The Melrose lawmaker won her Democratic primary the same night the Red Sox traded away Mookie Betts. She won the special election March 3 eight days before the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a global pandemic.
She was sworn in March 25 in a socially distanced ceremony. I thought I saw everything, then-House Speaker Bob DeLeo remarked, but this is the first time I ever experienced anything like this. ....
