Thousands of runners who braved the scorching heat early Saturday, July 24 for the Bix 7 race got a glimpse of the heart of the Hilltop Campus Village (HCV) in Davenport.
Though they likely did not stop then for a stirring jolt of coffee or admire some of the area’s striking architecture, Scott Tunnicliff and Molly
Molly Otting Carlson will start as new HCV executive director on Aug. 2.
Otting Carlson certainly hope they’ll be back soon to take in all the area has to offer.
Tunnicliff – an avuncular, dedicated 66-year-old economic development leader – recently retired as the first HCV director in its 12-year history. Carlson, a 52-year-old Davenport native, left her job as a vice president at Visit Quad Cities to take the reins of the nonprofit (and only Main Street Iowa organization in Scott County) as of Aug. 2. ....

Campaigns underway in Davenport to combat homelessness, bring COVID relief
Ending chronic homelessness is the goal of an experiment in the Quad Cities. By mid-summer, Humility Homes and Services plans to launch what it’s calling the Supportive Housing Pilot Project.
Spokesman Ryan Bobst says the project will provide a range of services to ten people for the next three years.
“These are generally individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness,” Bobst says. “They’ve got a history of arrests, typically for trespassing, and then they also have a behavioral health disorder so they’re frequently in and out of our emergency shelter, in and out of the hospital, and in and out of jail.” ....

Q2030 Begins Nonprofit and Seeks an Executive Director

MOLINE, Ill. The organization Q2030, who created a series of table discussions throughout the quad cities called The Big Table is all part of an area initiative designed to make a better community over the next decade.
Now, the organization has created a stand-alone, new 501(C) organization.
Co-chair and Quad City native, Joe Slavens, said diversity is one of the organization s top priorities.
The most successful communities and regions are those that are the most diverse communities and embracing diversity is an economic development opportunity.
Now, Q2030 is looking for an executive director to lead the group. Slavens said the organization is looking for particular characteristics in a new executive director. ....

DAVENPORT, Iowa Humility Homes and Services in Davenport is planning how to use a $100,000 grant, which will offer more people a stable place to live.
That grant came from the Quad Cities Community Foundation, as part of its Transformation Grant program.
The 10 individuals we identified have nearly 4 years of homelessness, living on the streets in their lives, said Ryan Bobst. ....
