Brickfields stakeholders want bridge removed

BARELY two months after an underutilised pedestrian bridge in front of Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) in Brickfields was demolished, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) received a request to take down another pedestrian bridge in the neighbourhood.
The bridge in question located along Jalan Tun Sambanthan has not only reportedly become a white elephant, stakeholders claim the lift shaft has not been certified by the Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH).
This bridge is located in front of the Saravanaa Bhavan restaurant and a pawn shop, as well as across the Shell building along the main street of Brickfields. ....

Repairs on faulty public housing lifts to start soon

Upgrading work on lifts at Desa Rejang Public Housing in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur is expected to commence soon.
In a statement to StarMetro, IM Global Property Consultants Sdn Bhd said the lifts were disabled after an inspection was done by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) on April 21.
The inspection, which takes place every year, identified major faults with the lifts.
The company was appointed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Commissioner of Buildings to manage the 12 blocks of flats since Oct 1, 2019.
It said DOSH had instructed for upgrading work to be carried out on all 34 cars at the flats to renew the certificate of fitness of the lifts. ....

Struggling butterfly park hopes for lifeline

THE government, through the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac), hopes to revive the flagging fortunes of many of Kuala Lumpur’s tourist attractions in line with the National Recovery Plan 2021.
Tourism Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said one of the tourist spots that the ministry had identified was the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park (KLBP), which she described as “one of the Federal Capital’s unique attractions.”
The world-famous butterfly park has been experiencing a slow death due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
