Head Over Heels: An Ice Cream Social and Benefit Concert: June 12

WESTON, CT – The New Paradigm Theatre Company will present Head Over Heels, a socially-distanced outdoor Gala and concert on the lawn of Emmanuel Church (285 Lyons Plain Rd) on Saturday, June 12, 2021, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. We will move indoors if it rains.
The event is a themed fundraiser to support NPT’s summer production of Footloose and includes make-your-own ice cream sundaes, a silent auction and a benefit concert featuring songs about dancing and feet performed by Broadway and local “stars”. Tickets are $35, available for purchase online or at the door. Group seating is also available for a discounted price. CDC safety guidelines will be followed and everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket or portable lawn chair for comfort. ....

Teachers Prepare for Students to Return to School Amid COVID-19
The initial phase of a two-part rollout for students and teachers to return to their respective classrooms is underway and the Ministry of Education has given the go-ahead for fifty-five schools to reopen by April nineteenth. This morning, News Five visited several schools, including kindergarten, primary and secondary levels, to witness firsthand the preparations that are being made ahead of the resumption of classes. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

The reopening of some schools, a little over a year after being abruptly closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is a measured step in the right direction. It has become necessary for students to receive face-to-face tuition, despite the dangers of the dreaded disease. SEIU medical assistants strike for a day at Provident

At Provident Hospital, 500 E. 51st St., medical assistants picketed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Union members also stopped working at the county jail and the clerkâs office.
Benita Hardy, a Provident medical assistant, gives injections, does bloodwork and takes patients vitals for $20 an hour, 40 hours a week. Her union is asking for an additional $5 for all workers in COVID units or caring for COVID patients for the month of December. This deal is to be renegotiated New Yearâs Eve.
We re working during COVID. The telework days, we don t get enough. And we had an incident having COVID patients on the floor, and no one knew, Hardy said. We don t have enough gowns. We don t have enough face shields. ....
