ST. BONAVENTURE, NY On the cusp of the Top 25, St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team is receiving more national attention with each win and deserves it, coach Mark Schmidt said. All of it.
The Bonnies have earned votes in the Associated Press’s Top 25 in each of the last two weeks. This week, the program earned 19 vote points, good for No. 32 in the country, after having earned votes last week for the first time since March 2018. Another blow: Winston leaves Bona hoops team

ST. BONAVENTURE â Justin Winston, presumably, wasnât happy.
Winston had lost his starting spot, for now anyway, a year after holding that position for 28 of 31 games as a freshman.
He played just five minutes in the St. Bonaventure menâs basketball teamâs season-opening win over Akron and had averaged nine minutes across two contests after earning 20 a night last winter.
His body language seemed off. Evidently, it was enough to sever ties with the team entirely.
Winston has announced his intention to leave the Bona program, coach Mark Schmidt announced in a three-paragraph release on Wednesday. He informed the coaching staff of his desire to transfer following the holiday break, and the decision was made public mere hours before the Bonniesâ Atlantic 10-opener at Rhode Island. ....
