Police say someone shot a gun inside a 7-Eleven, then at an officer chasing the getaway car.
WARWICK Police have identified the man who died after being struck by a car while trying to cross Bald Hill Road on Wednesday evening.
He was Gustavo Lopez Giron, 53, of Providence, according to a news release from the Warwick police.
Police responded to the area of 1170 Bald Hill Rd. shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. They found Giron unresponsive in the northbound lanes of Bald Hill Road. He was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. ....

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) Police have released the name of a man who was struck and killed by a car while crossing a major road in Warwick on Wednesday evening.
Gustavo Lopez Giron, 53, of Providence, was struck while trying to cross a dimly lit stretch of Bald Hill Road around 5 p.m., according to Warwick police.
He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death will be determined by Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office.
No one has been charged in the case. The driver and several witnesses stopped after the crash and are cooperating, police said. The department said speed, impairment and distracted driving do not appear to be factors. ....
