Here are some names floated around: Tomas, Margot dark horses At Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), for mayor: Representative Rodrigo Bebot Abellanosa, who is completing his third and last consecutive term as congressman in the south district; or Franklyn Ong, ABC president and councilor representing the federation of barangay councils in the city. There may be ready replacement bets if conditions change. Or contenders may hide their plan until the last chance for substitution. I have already given both parties the chance to air their side through this column in our past issues. I thought that was enough for them so that their stand will be known to the stakeholders in particular and the Cebuanos, in general. But I received an addendum from Vice Mayor Michael Rama who categorically declared that he is not against any development at Carbon Public Market, but he just wants to clarify things and to correct some defects in the Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) so that it can stand on legal ground and he will not be blamed for whatever results the contract may have in the future. Before the start of the campaign period, she called then Vice Mayor Edgar Labella to inform him of her intention to withdraw her certificate of candidacy for Cebu City councilor because she was affected by the intrigues that she had been hearing. Labella was in the United States at that time and because of the time difference, he practically lost an entire night’s sleep trying to persuade his candidate to stay in the ticket. She did.
