State College's 3/20 Coalition discusses police intervention in mental health crises

State College s 3/20 Coalition hosted Gabby Medina Falzone Monday night to speak at its Criminalization of Mental Health Crises event, which discussed the stigma behind mental illness and the misuse of force within the police department on those who are mentally ill.
The event was a part of 3/20 Coalition s 10 Days of Action seriesÂ to commemorate the two year anniversary of the death of Osaze Osagie.
Osagie was a 29-year-old Black State College resident who had autism and a history of schizophrenia. He was shot and killed by State College Police officers on March 20, 2019.
When three officers arrived at Osagieâs apartment to serve a mental health warrant, Osagie allegedly ran at the officers with a knife. After an unsuccessful attempt to deploy a Taser on Osagie, he was allegedly shot by Officer M. Jordan Pieniazek. ....

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan Tuesday said the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance is unable to decide about resignations even after six months.
The SACM took to Twitter and termed the alliance as a group of the corrupt. Opportunist and corrupt godfathers having ugly political faces talk about taking the country out of crises, she added.
Firdous Ashiq said every member of PDM wants to control the alliance by proving themselves as the biggest leader. Imran Khan will remain the prime minister until 2023 regardless of PDM’s long march and resignations, she stressed. ....

TMF to fund Labor Dept. data project -- FCW

Within 24 hours of receiving its most substantial boost yet, the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) awarded the Department of Labor $9.6 million to modernize its enterprise data infrastructure on Friday.
The announcement of the 11
th ever TMF project came the day after the fund received a $1 billion funding boost from the American Rescue Plan. That s a dramatic expansion for the fund, which has been getting appropriations of around $25 million.
The news of the Technology Modernization Fund getting a $1 billion boost from the American Rescue plan couldn t have come at a better time said David Shive, GSA Chief Information Officer and TMF Board member, in a General Services Administration announcement about the decision. ....

SHENANDOAH VALLEY, Va. (WVIR) - The COVID-19 Local Response Fund has helped thousands of people in the Shenandoah Valley, keeping many from financial ruin. Tuesday marks one year since the fund was created.
The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge started the fund as a way for people to help their neighbors through COVID-19, but it’s also showing the power of partnerships in addressing real issues. ....

International Solar Alliance Elects Ajay Mathur as its Director General

Ajay Mathur takes charge as the Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) on March 15. Exactly a month ago, the Special Assembly of the ISA had elected Ajay as the Director General. However, the appointment is for four years which could be renewed for an additional term.
In a statement, the company says, Dr Ajay Mathur has assumed office, today, as Director General of the International Solar Alliance.
Ajay would be replacing Upendra Tripathy, who has completed his term on March 14. Upendra held the position of Director General since 2017.
Furthermore, India had proposed Ajay’s candidature which was endorsed by the Special Assembly. He brings in a wealthy leadership and expertise across all key areas of energy transition, from policy, research, and technology commercialisation to financing, international cooperation and institutional development ....
