New Loft Development In Benton Harbor Already Full

It’s only been a couple of months since the new City Center Lofts apartments in downtown Benton Harbor became available, and they’re now already filled up. Cornerstone Alliance President Rob Cleveland tells WSJM News all 16 units are leased for the next year. He’s not surprised. “There’s just a huge demand for new housing, new multi-family, market rate housing, in Benton Harbor, in St. Joe, in the townships, and all of our communities,” Cleveland said. “What you see here is just the start, and we had a great announcement yesterday with Whirlpool and the 80 units that they’re developing for workforce housing. There’s still a tremendous need, and we’re going to continue to actively recruit builders and developers to put up new units in our community.”

New 100,000 Square Foot Building Coming To Cornerstone Industrial Park

March 13, 2021 The Benton Township Planning Commission this week  approved the construction of a new 100,000 square foot building in the Cornerstone Industrial Park. Cornerstone Alliance says Michigan-based CBK Construction will start the project as soon as possible. Located next to the Southwest Michigan Regional Airport, the Cornerstone Industrial Park is intended for industrial and logistics operations. Cornerstone Alliance President Rob Cleveland says the project is possible thanks to work with partners that include CBK Construction, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and Benton Charter Township. Benton Township Supervisor Cathy Yates says the new facility will generate new job opportunities for residents and grow the tax base. Cornerstone says an additional 30 acres of property is available for development which may be used in a second phase to attract more companies to southwest Michigan.
