PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved N6.45 billion for the setting up of gas plants in 38 locations nationwide in a bid to enhance the treatment of Covid-19 patients who need oxygen.
This disclosure emerged at the first virtual National Economic Council, NEC, meeting in 2021 presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, with State Governors, Federal Capital Territory Minister, Central Bank Governor and other senior government officials in attendance.
While briefing the NEC on the release of the funds, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed said the President approved the release of the funds for the production of oxygen, necessitated by the increased number of patients who need oxygen due to the surge in Covid-19 infections in the country. ....

The Federal Government has approved N6.45 billion for the setting up of gas plants in 38 locations nationwide in a bid to enhance the treatment of COVID-19 patients who need oxygen.

The Ondo State Government on Wednesday said it had cancelled the cross-over services in churches across the state, between December 31 and January 1, as part of efforts to curb the spread of second wave of COVID-19.
The government also postponed the resumption of pupils in primary and secondary schools from Monday, January 4,  2021, to January 18,  2021.
The Chairman, Ondo State Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19,  Prof. Adesegun Fatusi, said this in Akure,  the state capital.
According to him, the committee had extensive interaction with various stakeholders on the need to take proactive measures against the second wave of COVID-19. ....

Second wave: FCT shuts bars, parks, restaurants for five weeks
Following the rising cases of coronavirus, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has ordered that all bars, restaurants, leisure gardens, and event centres should be shut for five weeks.
He also directed that informal and formal festivity events, including weddings, conferences, congresses, office parties, concerts, seminars, sporting activities, and end of year events are restricted to not more than 50 persons.
Rising from an emergency COVID-19 meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the minister equally directed that Churches and Mosques should not have more than 50 per cent worshippers, noting that social distancing and mandatory use of face masks and hand hygiene was to be strictly enforced. ....
