DHAKA, April 15, 2021 (BSS) â Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said that âCorona Management Guidelinesâ will be prepared for all organizations under the Local Government Department to tackle COVID-19 and keep the development works running in the country.
He made the remarks virtually at a view exchanging meeting with mayors and senior officials of all city corporations of the country on the ongoing corona infection prevention and development activities from his government residence on Mintu Road in the capital.
The minister said that the coronavirus (COVID-19), which has spread all over the world, does not seem to be eradicated soon as the health experts have given hints in this regard. ....

DHAKA, April 13, 2021 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today directed the officials of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) to ensure uninterrupted water supply in rural and municipal areas.
The minister also directed DPHE authorities to keep soap along with ample water supply in the hand-washing stations set up at different points of the district and upazila levels to prevent Coronavirus infection, said a press release here.
He gave the directives in a virtual view exchange meeting with DPHE officials on tackling Covid-19 and ongoing development activities. ....

Govt works tirelessly to ensure sustainable water supply: Tajul

DHAKA, Feb 06, 2021 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working relentlessly to ensure sustainable water supply in the country.
“The incumbent government is working relentlessly to ensure sustainable water supply as well as sustainable development across the country considering the future demand for water,” he said.
The minister said this while talking to journalists after visiting Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA)’s Gandharbpur Water Treatment Plant at Rupganj in Narayanganj.
He said that there will be no water problem in the country as the water problem in Chattogram and Dhaka has now been resolved. ....

DHAKA, Jan 17, 2021 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said the municipal councils must focus on increasing income or face dissolution as the government plans to change the law to this end.
“City corporations and Paurashava follow their own laws. They must take responsibility for generating and increasing their revenue as per their laws. If they fail to pay the salary of their staff for 12 months, we are planning for their dissolution,” he said.
“This is not believable that the inhabitants of paurashava cannot pay tax,” Tajul said while addressing a National Policy Dialogue on ‘Strengthening the Urban Local Governments in Bangladesh’ at a city hotel here, a UNDP release said. ....
