Submitted photo Members of the Urbana Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter attended Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum in Carrollton from July 7- July 11. There were over 200 campers in attendance, with the addition of 2021-2022 State FFA Officers, FFA Camp staff, and FFA advisors from around the state. FFA Camp Muskingum is located on Leesville Lake in Carrollton, Ohio and is owned and operated by the Ohio FFA Association. ....

Submitted photo The 2021-2022 Urbana Future Farmers of America (FFA) officer retreat was held on June 28 and June 29. Students arrived at the Urbana High School Agriculture Department on June 28 at 10 a.m. to take officer pictures and prepare for the adventures to come. At 11 a.m., the officers set personal, team and chapter goals to keep the group as organized and prepared as possible. Along with the goals, the team went over officer duties and expectations. At noon, everyone had lunch, which was tacos with chips and cookies, and started their bonding experience. After lunch at 12:45 p.m., the students and advisors worked together on the program of activities and set dates in the AET calendar for the upcoming year. ....

The Urbana FFA members attended the 93rd Ohio State FFA Convention on April 29 and 30. During school hours, students had the opportunity to come down to the Ag classroom to the watch party for the ceremony. Snacks and refreshments were provided for students who came. While attending the virtual convention, the Urbana FFA students watched conferring of the State FFA degree, CDE recognition, charitable giving recognition and proficiency awards. Justin Preece received a 1st place proficiency award for Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance. FFA News Urbana FFA Competes in State Contests Urbana FFA members took part in the State Career Development Events on March 22, March 29, and April 27. The Equine Management team competed on March 22nd while the Milk Quality and Products and General Livestock teams competed on March 29. On April 27, the Meat Evaluation and Technology team participated in the state contest. These competitions promote leadership and life skills for the students involved. All students take part in practices before the contests to learn the skills they will need for the competitions. Teams are made up of at least four members and are given individual as well as team scores. ....
Urbana FFA places 2nd in Ag Communications Submitted photo The Urbana FFA submitted their final video presentation for the state Agricultural Communications competition on Feb. 19. Participants in this event work as a team of communication consultants to develop a written media plan and distribute the plan to a panel of judges by submitting a video of the team presenting. Participants must communicate effectively while advocating to consumers about agriculture. This year students were challenged to tell the story of agriculture by highlighting an FFA Advisor and how they are impacting the lives of their students and the community in which they live. This can be a made-up FFA Advisor or a real one, but use the media plan to get the word out on how FFA makes an impact in the lives of FFA members and communities. ....
