UP: To the repair and relocation work on the Veterans Memorial in Cairo, which was damaged by flooding last month. Tim Cantwell and his crew from TC Towing and Repair have begun the process to fix water leaks and raise the concrete pad on which the memorial sits, as a new site is being prepped on the land along Main Street by Cairo Masonic Temple #14’s new building (the former Union Bank Building). Some donors have already stepped up, but more are needed to complete the project. Kudos to those who have already done the heavy lifting.
UP: To the artists of the Wood County Society’s Artbeat Studio, who created the metalwork bees, butterflies and flowers adorning lightposts along Market Street in Parkersburg. “It was just really moving and super impressive to see the work that they are doing,” said Mayor Tom Joyce. Veterans Memorial in Cairo being repaired, relocated after flooding caused damage | News, Sports, Jobs

CAIRO After sustaining damage from recent flooding, the Veterans Memorial in Cairo is being repaired and will be moved to a safer location.
Since 2017, the memorial needed work done but with the damage to the retaining wall Feb. 28, that project became more of a necessity.
The day after the damage, former Cairo resident Tim Cantwell of TC Towing and Repair came on the scene to assess the situation, according to a release from D.J. Allen, Ritchie County Veterans Memorial coordinator. ....
