Here’s a chance to ditch the stuffy suits and dresses and experience live opera in your comfiest getup. Flowers and Opera is a live opera and musical theater show where retailers’ staircases and loading docks are transformed into stages for performers. There is limited cafe table seating, but guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. A live show wouldn’t be complete without a snack in hand, and guests can purchase delicious French crepes and drinks from Coolidge Corner’s Paris Creperie before and during the performances.

‘Gender Effects in the Time of Pandemic’
On Sunday, May 9, First Parish Church of Stow & Acton, Unitarian Universalist, will offer a virtual service on “Gender Effects in the Time of Pandemic.” For Mother’s Day this year, the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Landrum will look at how the effects of the pandemic have fallen unequally onto the shoulders of people identified as women, as well as trans and non-binary peoples.
FPC s services can be accessed by computer or phone or by tuning in to 107.7 FM from the FPC parking lot at 353 Great Road, Stow. Access information, as well as a link to the order of service, will be posted along the left column at http://fpc-stow-acton.org within 24 hours of the service. To prevent disruptive intrusions, the virtual room will be locked about 15 minutes after the service begins. FPC apologizes for any inconvenience this causes. If you access the service via radio, please remain in your car. If

First Parish Church of Stow & Acton
Caitlin Felsman, co-director of Opera on Tap Boston, had a pandemic problem. So did her husband, Mike Pfitzer, music director for First Parish Church of Stow & Acton. Frankly, so did just about every organization in 2020.
“At the start of the pandemic, we both were feeling the enormous loss of in-person rehearsal and performance,” said Felsman. “We tend to brainstorm together when we re standing around the kitchen or sitting at the dinner table. I was trying to find ways to keep OOT singers working. Mike was trying to figure out how to keep a choir rehearsing on Zoom. And it just made sense to see if we could work together on a solution.”
