Upper Cape Tech staff were told Monday there would be a vaccination clinic for employees. On Tuesday, they were told otherwise.


BOURNE Plans for an independent pharmacy to host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Friday at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School for the school’s staff and eligible members of the public have been canceled.
Roger Forget, superintendent of Upper Cape Tech, said he sent an email to school employees Monday about the clinic, which was set to be conducted by Whole Health Pharmacy in Hyannis.
But on Tuesday, Forget said, he told employees that he received word that the state Department of Public Health said the clinic would not occur.
“The disappointment and frustration felt by the staff is just overwhelming,” he said. “Our little clinic has been stopped. I can’t for the life of me understand why.” ....

Massachusetts oversight hearing on COVID vaccine rollout starts Thursday morning with Gov. Charlie Baker

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker will be the first to testify Thursday morning in a hearing examining the state’s rocky COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
The Joint Committee on COVID-19 and Emergency Preparedness and Management begins its hearing at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Republican governor testifying first. The hearing will be the first time Baker will publicly answer questions from lawmakers on vaccine distribution.
Legislators have lodged a series of questions in recent weeks about the rollout, from why the state didn’t initially launch a call center to why long lines formed at mass vaccination sites to why the website crashed after promises to improve the clunky online process. ....

Gov. Charlie Baker on Thursday apologized for problems with the Massachusetts COVID-19 vaccination portal but reiterated his argument that a limited supply of doses from federal authorities was to blame for a troubled vaccine rollout.
Baker was asked at an appearance before the COVID-19 and Emergency Management and Preparedness Committee whether he would apologize to people who encountered issues with the state s vaccine portal, which crashed last week as a million people became eligible for vaccination.
Of course. Absolutely. Definitely. Yes, he said. It s going to be a constant challenge, going forward that we don t have enough supply to serve the population that wants to get vaccinated. I hope at some point that s not true anymore. ....
