Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,SAM,ROS-Mahopac) is pleased to report the successful completion of his second
Trailblazing with Byrne event of the year on Saturday, May 22
nd in the Town of Southeast at the Tonetta Lake Trailhead, which is part of the Maybrook Trailway and larger Empire State Trail.
Byrne met with constituents both virtually and in-person for an hour of Q & A, which was simultaneously live-streamed on YouTube, before taking an hour-long walk along the Empire State Trail to continue the discussion, promote healthy living and take in the natural beauty. Discussion included taxes and spending, public safety and policing, proposed education mandates like critical race theory, and Governor Cuomo’s growing list of scandals including his withholding of COVID-19 nursing home mortality info and self-serving book deal.

I am disgusted by the politicization of the vaccine distributions in Putnam County. A news release issued on Jan. 19 by County Executive MaryEllen Odell regarding a COVID-19 vaccination site at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring was an embarrassment to herself and the county.
Instead of focusing on the successes of the county Health Department and Drug World of Cold Spring and the challenges ahead, Odell spends four paragraphs fluffing her candidates and political allies, namely Vinny Tamagna, the county transportation manager and former Republican legislator; Kevin McConville, the chair of the Philipstown Republican Committee and aspiring candidate for county sheriff, who “volunteered his expertise”; Republican state Sen. Sue Serino, who “visited to offer her support”; and Republican Legislator Neal Sullivan, who “stopped by.”
