Michigan Tech junior guard Owen White claimed GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors for the second time this year. In three games over the past seven days, White combined for 72 total points and 21 rebounds and the Huskies went 2-1. Tuesday night, White scored 22 points in a win over Northern Michiganand shot 9-for-14 (64-percent) from the field with four 3-pointers on seven attempts. Friday night, White posted 20 points with seven rebounds over his team high 33 minutes on the court. White was especially impressive in Saturday’s road victory over Grand Valley State. The Huskies play Grand Valley State in the final regular season home series of the year Friday, 12 p.m. and Saturday, February 20 at 11 a.m. The huskies (9–5) enter the weekend in first place atop the GLIAC North Division with a narrow margin over Wisconsin–Parkside, with four games to play. Not much separation in the north Division as all six teams are separated by just three wins. Meanwhile, Grand Valley State (8–5) enters on a three–game win streak, eyeing first place in the South. The Bulldogs limited their turnovers to 10 and the Huskies struggled from the free throw line as they lost two straight games for the first time this season. “We are clearly disappointed this weekend,” said head coach Kevin Luke. “There is no doubt Ferris State deserves credit but I also think we did not take care of the basketball well enough and we let them rebound at will. We played a little bit better today, but I felt missed free throws were ultimately what cost us the game.” ....
