University launches Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team

The initiative will pair behavioral health clinicians with trained campus security officers when responding to mental health crises. 
Hopkins announced the creation of the Johns Hopkins University Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team (JHU BHCST) to respond to behavioral and mental health crises on and around Homewood Campus on May 18. In an email to constituents, University President Ronald J. Daniels, Acting Vice President for Public Safety Connor Scott and Vice Provost for Student Health and Well-Being Kevin Shollenberger promoted the initiative as part of the University’s commitment to reimagining public safety. 
They noted that currently, campus safety and security officers are the first and sole in-person responders to behavioral health crises. ....

COVID testing expands at Johns Hopkins as spring semester gets underway
More than 8,500 tests have been conducted over the past seven days at nine campus testing sites as the university prepares to expand in-person activities

More than 1,000 Johns Hopkins students, faculty, and staff are being screened for COVID-19 at campus testing sites each weekday as the university prepares to resume on-campus instruction next week, part of a multifaceted operational and safety approach meticulously prepared by JHU in anticipation of expanded activities during the spring semester.
The university has set up nine campus locations for testing five on the Homewood campus, and one each on the East Baltimore campus, at the Peabody Institute, at the Carey Business School, and at the School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.
