Local leaders share mental health statistics, resources, training opportunities

For Mental Health Awareness Month, Franklin Tomorrow dedicated its monthly FrankTalks event Monday to the subject, inviting local mental health experts and advocates to discuss the available resources and efforts to offer support to those suffering in the Williamson County community.
Last May, Franklin Mayor Ken Moore and his blue-ribbon panel of local mental health advocates launched the Find Hope Franklin website, which acts as a hub for finding mental health services and information pertaining to Franklin and Williamson County.
Franklin Tomorrow Executive Director Mindy Tate pointed out community members may not be aware of all the resources available to them, and Moore said Find Hope Franklin not only seeks to spread the word about those resources but start and continue public dialogue around mental health. ....

Tennessee Counties Transitioning To More Sophisticated Vaccine Appointment System

Tennessee counties are saying goodbye to Signup Genius. Local health departments have been relying on the free scheduling website to coordinate COVID-19 vaccination appointments. But the state has now launched a customized online scheduling tool.
Cathy Montgomery leads the Williamson County Health Department, which is training on the system now and making the switch March 15. Nurses will now be armed with iPads accessing the patient information as they administered doses, she says.
“The system has a lot of tremendous features that we hope will certainly improve our processes and make things go a little bit faster for us,” Montgomery said during an online forum Friday. ....

Coronavirus in Tennessee: Latest numbers, cases, restrictions, updates


The Tennessee Department of Health announced 11,352 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
To date, there have been 454,305 cases of the coronavirus reported in the state, of which 57,952 cases are active. 
So far 4.95 million tests have been given, with 83,031 reported over the past 24 hours. 
Tennessee confirmed 62 new deaths over the last 24 hours. In all, 5,462 people have died as a result of the virus.
There are currently 2,680 hospitalizations connected to the coronavirus in Tennessee. The state reported 390,891 people have recovered so far.
Nashville reports 689 new cases, 5 new deaths
The Nashville Metro Public Health Department reported 689 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths in the last 24 hours on Sunday. ....
