Independence Day show and run a mid winter delight for US car buffs

The event “included everything from a Model T Ford to the latest Mustang’’, Howie said.
“The event is open to everything American. Anybody who wants to come is welcome, it’s not just for club members.”

Howie said about 25 cars took part in a cruise to Peel Forest following the gathering.
Howie said the South Canterbury USA Classic Car Club was formed by Timaru car enthusiast Steve Brown about 11 years ago and has grown from there. ....

Wendy Fell and Neil Howie are preparing to take their 1972 Pontiac Firebird to the South Canterbury USA Classic Car Club s Independence Day show and run.
Neil Howie is looking forward to taking his 1972 Pontiac Firebird for a Sunday cruise to mark Independence Day in the US.
The South Canterbury USA Classic Car Club member purchased the vehicle about 10 years ago in Christchurch, and it had been through several owners since it first arrived in the country in 1975.
“I was actually looking for a Camaro at the time, but this one came to my attention, and I’ve been a fan of it ever since,” Howie said. ....
