Trans-Tasman Bubble "a Welcome Relief" For Canterbury Businesses

Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce Chief
Executive Leeann Watson says businesses have been eagerly
awaiting today’s announcement regarding the trans-Tasman
travel bubble.
The Prime Minister today announced that
Cabinet has approved a proposal for quarantine-free
trans-Tasman travel, set to come into effect on April
19.
Ms Watson says the tight border controls have been
one of the key challenges for the local business community,
so the announcement will be a welcome relief .
The
significant impact of the border restrictions on spending in
the region and the ability for business to operate and trade

Vaccine Announcement "very Positive News" Says Canterbury Chamber

The Prime Minister’s announcement today regarding the
arrival of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine and subsequent
rollout is very positive news for the business community,
says Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce Chief
Executive Leeann Watson.
The vaccine will arrive in
Aotearoa New Zealand next week with vaccinations for border
workers to start from Saturday of next week. Household
contacts of those workers will be the next group, followed
by healthcare and essential workers, the elderly and
vulnerable. The remainder of the population is expected to
be vaccinated from the start of the second half of the

Business travellers need Covid-19 vaccine too, says chamber of commerce

Residents of the Pullman Hotel MIQ facility celebrate Christmas. Difficulty getting a spot in an MIQ facility is proving increasingly detrimental to exporters, a business group says.
A business group has called for Covid vaccines to be made available to those involved in critical business travel.
The Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce welcomed the news that Pfizer vaccines are due in the country next week, with 12,000 border workers, their families, healthcare workers and aged care patients being among the first to get them.
Vaccination of the wider population is set for the second half of the year. ....
