(Tim Middagh/The Globe) JACKSON Several local organizations partnered on the planning of a new multi-tenant commercial building, Jackson Crossing Retail Center, and broke ground on the site Monday. Jackson Economic Development Corporation (JEDC) purchased land in 2014 with the intent to stimulate the area s retail economy. Since then, JEDC has been trying to develop retail business to the area, said Tom Nelson, community and business development specialist with the Community and Economic Development Association (CEDA) in Jackson.

(Submitted graphic by Tri-State General Contracting) JACKSON An 8,600-square-foot strip mall is coming to the outskirts of Jackson near the intersection of Interstate 90 and U.S. 71, with construction expected to commence in June. Donnie and Audree Schoenrock, who own Kat’s Hog Heaven, a restaurant in downtown Jackson, teamed with the Jackson Economic Development Corp. to formally unveil the project Thursday morning on the site of the planned development, which will be built just off Industrial Parkway. The strip mall will be designed as a home to five tenants with two of those already determined and three open to interested parties.

The JEDC reached out to other local business owners which included Donnie Schoenrock. Schoenrock is now the new owner of the franchise Cabin Coffee and says they have been wanting to start another business.
