Exhibit celebrates student and teacher art
Artwork by 50 Cape Cod students from kindergarten through high school and 10 teachers is on display in a two-month exhibit at Cape Cod Museum of Art. “Through Young Eyes,” a collaboration with the Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association, is the museum’s 18th annual display of student talent. This year’s choices that coincide with the statewide Youth Art Month, though, can be seen in different ways: in person; each item individually in an online gallery; or through an on-demand virtual tour. The exhibit includes sculpture, painting, printmaking, collage, jewelry-making, metal-working, drawing, ceramics and multi-media art. ....

Cape Cod entertainment: Glass wonders, Michael J. Fox & to do Feb. 19-25

“Electric Garden of Unearthly Delights” (through June 1) showcases “luminous glass” by Mundy Hepburn, who works with the same scientific principles used in television and fluorescent light to create art. He fills blown-glass forms with gas mixtures such as helium, neon, argon, krypton and xenon, then activates it all with high-frequency static electricity. The result is described as “a kaleidoscope of swirling patterns of multicolored light.” Connecticut native Mundy’s “moving, living art” has been exhibited in over 30 installations.

“Fritz Glass” (through Oct. 31) highlights the work of featured artist Fritz Lauenstein, who, after studying glass-blowing in Maine and Vermont, set up his studio in Dennis in 1990. He creates both functional and decorative glass, including marbles, paperweights, perfume bottles, jewelry, vases and bowls. His work has been shown and sold in museums and over 200 galleries. ....

Cape Cod art: New COVID-inspired photos, paintings and 4 more exhibits

It’s not too soon: Reflections on the pandemic time so far are among the artwork being showcased in new area exhibits.
One display in South Yarmouth hails the COVID-19 heroes; another in Falmouth takes a look at ordinary people living through extraordinary times. And creators of a Dennis exhibit seek to offer comfort just when a lot of us might need it.

New Shows Are On View At Cape Museum Of Art

Two shows opened this month at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis.
âPaper Talks: The Life of Miroslawa Pissarenko artist, horticulturist, teacher and friendâ will be on view through April 4.
Miroslawa Grabowski Pissarenko (1909-2006) believed that paper talked. She told this to her good friend Peter Michael Martin as she created Polish paper cuttings called wycniaki in her own intricate style, using only a pair of cuticle scissors. On Cape Cod Ms. Pissarenko is remembered for her paper cut-decorated eggs, which she demonstrated and taught to children in the schools and libraries. But that was just one example of her artistic touch. ....
