Porter ran for 142 yards and two touchdowns against Illinois on Dec. 12, then ran for 61 yards and another score Saturday’s loss to No. 3 Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. Auburn: Freshman running back Tank Bigsby closed the schedule by running 26 times for 192 yards in the Mississippi State win on Dec. 12, while he also had 100-yard rushing days against Arkansas, South Carolina and Mississippi. NOTABLE Northwestern: The Wildcats won six times against a Big Ten-only schedule, with a Dec. 5 game at Minnesota canceled, under Pat Fitzgerald. In addition to the Ohio State loss, Northwestern lost at Michigan State on Nov. 28. ....

The Crimson Tide (11-0, No. 1 CFP) got its toughest test in a season of blowouts, but Harris’ record-setting performance will send coach Nick Saban to the playoff in search of his seventh national title. After falling behind 35-17 by halftime, Florida (8-3, No. 7 CFP) made a game of it with a pair of third-quarter scores. And the Gators fought to the bitter end, adding two more TDS in the fourth period before finally running out of time. ....
Big 10 Championship Game 1:56 am In the Big 10 Championship game, it was Northwestern and Ohio State in Lucas Oil Stadium. In Northwestern’s first series, Cam Porter takes the snap nine yards into the Endzone for an early lead. Ohio State scored 2 Field Goals, but still trail by 4 points. The Buckeyes with a chance to change that before Half Time at 3rd and 4. Fields airs it to Garrett Wilson. Later in the drive, Ohio State inside the 10. Fields is picked by Brandon Joseph. He’s a Freshman who leads the Nation with 6 picks and takes home the play of the day. That had the sideline pumped up and the Wildcats go into Half Time with a 10-6 lead. ....
Harris tacked on the last of his touchdowns with a 1-yard lunge in which he was initially ruled down just short of the goal line. After a video review, the officials saw that Harris’ right arm, the ball firmly in his grasp, came down on the white stripe. The game’s MVP hauled in five passes for 67 yards including touchdown plays of 23, 17 and 7 yards in Alabama’s first-half blitz. Harris rushed for 178 yards on 31 bruising carries, which included an 8-yard scoring run that capped off the opening possession of the game. Harris set an SEC championship game record with his five touchdowns, breaking the mark of four scored by Auburn’s Tre Mason in 2013. The Alabama running back also knocked off a couple of school records, setting new standards for career rushing TDs (44) and overall TDs (54). ....
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Ohio State running back Trey Sermon got the message Saturday. He’d heard coach Ryan Day preach about everything the Buckeyes overcame to reach this season’s Big Ten championship game. He also heard Day urging players to overcome more obstacles in the second half. So Sermon delivered with a record-breaking performance. He ran for 331 yards and scored two second-half touchdowns, helping No. 3 Ohio State rally past No. 15 Northwestern 22-10 for its fourth straight conference crown and a likely spot in the College Football Playoff. “I’m aware of my ability and I know I’m more than capable of playing my game, which is making guys miss and playing at the second level,” the Big Ten championship game MVP said. “When I’m in the zone, I feel like the game just really slows down and I can see everything develop, make the right reads and make the right cuts.” ....
