The property management company now overseeing Cambrian Mall expects to have Sault Ste. Marie’s second largest indoor shopping centre fully occupied with tenants by spring 2022.
Consumer Centres is managing the Great Northern Road mall for a numbered company. Leasing representative Fayez Elian declined to identify the registered owner of the 37-year-old mall that was previously owned by RioCan. The mall’s new owner took possession on April 15. Sale price was not released.

COVID-19: Here's the situation in the Sault this week


34 cases screened positive for variants of concern
Sault Area Hospital (SAH) confirmed Tuesday that one COVID-19 positive patient from the Greater Toronto Area will be admitted this week.
The hospital is preparing to receive one to two patients a day, depending on critical care capacity in our hospital. The release states that patients transferred to the local hospital could be patients with COVID-19 or without COVID-19.
Additionally, the local hospital is ramping down on non-urgent and non-emergent surgeries. On Tuesday, a directive was issued by chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams, which meant Northern Ontario hospitals are no longer exempt from the directive to cancel all non-urgent surgeries, in order to clear space for a potential influx of COVID-19 patients. ....

My column for this week was all set in my mind; I was going to criticize LifeLabs for the long lines and long waits for those requiring blood work.
But before I pumped a word into this computer I happened to see on television even longer lines of people waiting outside in freezing temperatures to receive their first COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Canadian Press reported that dozens of residents of Richmond Hill aged 80 and older lined up outside the Richmond Green Sports Centre in the cold, paperwork in hand for their immunization appointments.
Many were leaning on walkers or sitting in wheelchairs, bundled up against the -8 C weather. ....

Coles, a bookstore that’s been part of Cambrian Mall since its opening, is closing its doors next month.
The bookstore announced its March 7 closure on its Facebook on Wednesday.

“Our store has become a wonderful place for people to gather and be inspired,” the statement reads. “We could not have done it without our wonderful staff and our incredible customers.”
