Attorney representing Anthony Mariotto, Fort Pierce man charged in connection to US Capitol riot, issues statement


The attorney of the Fort Pierce man accused of taking part in the insurrection at the Capitol last month.Fifty-two-year-old Anthony Mariotto faces multiple misdemeanor charges in connection to the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6.Click here to see the court filings from this week which includes all of the charges.Mariotto is accused of one count of disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, one county of entering and remaining in the Gallery of Congress, one count of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, one count of disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and one count of parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.Mariotto's attorney, Edward D. Reagan, issued a statement to WPBF 25 News criticizing previous media coverage of his client's legal proceedings. WPBF 25 News first reported on the investigation into Mariotto's alleged actions at the Capitol on Jan. 6. on Thursday.“Mr. Mariotto has fully cooperated with the government in returning to South Florida from Georgia to appear. He turned over his phone and he admitted to the FBI agents what he did. Whether you agree or not, he is a man of principle," said Reagan.Mariotto declined to provide a comment to WPBF 25 News, instead referring us to his attorney.His next court date is set for March 30.
