Sturgis Falls to Pierre in Both Games of a Doubleheader

PIERRE, S.D. Both Pierre T.F. Riggs and Sturgis had their offenses going on Sunday in game one of a doubleheader, but the Scoopers eventually succumbed 8-6 in the high-scoring affair.
Sturgis got things moving in the first inning. Ridge Inhofer’s sac fly scored one run for the Scoopers. After Sturgis scored two runs in the top of the third, Pierre answered with two of their own. The Scoopers scored when David Anderson tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Inhofer singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Governors then answered when Andy Gordon doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Pierre pulled away for good with six runs in the fourth inning.

STURGIS, S.D. Kelton Olson didn’t allow a single run and just three hits as Sturgis defeated Douglas 15-0 on Saturday in game one of a doubleheader.
In the first inning, Sturgis got their offense started on a solo homer by senior Thor Sundstrom and runs scored by RJ Andrzejewski and Kaden Olson and led 3-0. The Scoopers put on their rally caps and put nine runs across the plate in the third inning. The Scoopers batters contributing to the big inning included Dustin Alan, Evan Stroud, Conner Cruickshank, Hunter Janzen, Andrzejewski, and Olson, all driving in runs in the frame.

STURGIS, S.D. Two pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout as the Sturgis Scoopers blanked the St. Thomas More Cavaliers, 14-0 in five innings.
Junior hurler Kelton Olson was dominant early for Sturgis, striking out the first two Cavalier batters and holding St. Thomas More scoreless after the top half of the first.
The Scooper offense got going quick in the bottom half of the inning with singles and stolen bases from Kaden Olson, Ridge Inhofer and David Anderson to give Sturgis a 3-0 lead after one. The Scoopers exploded for five runs in the second inning and five more in the third to lead 13-0. Sturgis stole bases at will on the Cavalier defense, with 11 total stolen bases in the ballgame.

Olivia Kieffer scored more points than all of Lyman on Friday, tallying 41 as the Rapid City Christian girls basketball team crushed the Raiders 85-28 at Hart Ranch.
Kieffer, a sophomore, notched her 1,000th career point as well and picked up nine assists, nine steals and seven rebounds for the Lady Comets. Alexa Ham added 18 points, Savannah Armendariz earned 10 points and Morgan Swarthout collected seven assists.
RC Christian (1-1) plays St. Thomas More on the road Jan. 2.
WALL 61, HARDING COUNTY 45:Â Ava Dinger scored 20 points as the Lady Eagles topped the Ranchers at home Saturday afternoon.
Dinger went 8 of 15 shooting for Wall (3-0), while Lilly Wagner added 10 points and Paige Kjerstad hauled in 10 rebounds.
