The incoming swell source is a distant polar low that broadens deeply across the 60 to 45deg latitudes today. We’ve been watching this storm come together for some days on the long range, and yesterday it really came into focus. The low produced a wide south-west wind fetch as it moved under Heard Island, and wind speeds of up to 60 knots were captured on satellite.
The core 933mb polar low will travel on a northeast path over the coming 24 hours, and this favourable movement of the storm fetch will bring in additional swell growth as the strong south-west winds stay in direct alignment with WA’s primary swell window from around 230 degrees. ....

The Elon Musk-fronted SpaceX has told an Australian parliamentary committee that it could begin to offer its Starlink broadband services to the nations external territories as early as 2022, while much of Australia will be covered in early 2021 .
Certain more proximate islands within the external territories, notably the Ashmore, Cartier, and Coral Sea Islands, could be served by early 2022, when SpaceX has more fully populated its satellite constellation with ongoing launches and with the establishment of gateway earth stations at proximate mainland locations, the company said in a submission to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Capital and External Territories Availability and access to enabling communications infrastructure in Australia s external territories inquiry. ....

The value of inward foreign direct investment earnings fell in 2019 (£43.8 billion) compared with 2018 (£75.2 billion); this decrease (£31.4 billion) was much larger than the fall in outward earnings (£2.4 billion) over the same period.
The much larger fall in the value of inward than outward earnings saw the value of net FDI earnings (outward less inward) in 2019 increase to the highest value since 2011.
Inward FDI earnings with the EU accounted for the greatest proportion of the overall decrease between 2018 and 2019; followed by earnings with the Americas and Asia. ....
