911 â The city of Kokomo is considering bringing back its ambulance service. The last city ambulance service was discontinued in 2009.
City officials are considering bringing back a service that was nixed more than a decade ago to address potential âno medics availableâ calls that have raised concern as of late.
Last week, Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore said the city was in the process of researching whether thereâs a need to revive a city ambulance service. Local nursing homes taking COVID patients from hospitals

Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo is working with local nursing homes that are accepting COVID positive patients with mild or moderate symptoms, and those beginning recovery from the virus.

Local long-term nursing facilities are taking in more COVID-19 patients from the cityâs two hospitals, as the intensive-care units reached maximum capacity on Tuesday due to a huge surge in new cases of the virus.
Tammie Floyd, director of case management at Community Howard Regional Health, said the hospital has worked with multiple local nursing home facilities to place COVID-positive patients or those recovering from the virus. ....
