In the next phase the government was prepared to vaccinate 11 lakh frontline staff, including police personnel and KMC officials, according to sources of The Indian Express. The list would include people working in the offices of district magistrates.

Out of the set target of 35,100 for Friday, 30,517 received Covishield doses in 351 centres across the state during the day. Eleven cases of adverse event following immunization (AEFI), mostly minor, were reported, the official said. All the AEFI cases reported so far are doing well. The nurse who was admitted to the CCU of the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital (in Kolkata on January 16) with AEFI was also discharged today, the official said.

West Bengal again fell short of its target to vaccinate all frontline staff registered in the second list.  According to officials, problems in the Centre s CoWIN application was responsible for this.  The number of beneficiaries is less because of some communication problem. A health official told the Indian Express, The (CoWIN) portal was not working smoothly, and many of the selected recipients did not get the SMS. We have tried to call them over the phone.

It is the indigenous version of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. The first dose in West Bengal will be provided at the SSKM Hospital here on January 16, followed by the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, according to sources of the Indian Express. The city airport authorities tweeted after the vaccine arrived at 2:30 pm in a special cargo flight of budget carrier SpiceJet, “May all be free from disease. One step closer! The consignment from Pune carrying #COVID19 vaccines has arrived at #KolkataAirport. Consignment handed over to state health department
