A seven-year-old boy from Ohio died in an accident involving an elevator at a vacation rental home in Corolla over the weekend.
Currituck Fire-EMS and Corolla Fire and Rescue were dispatched Sunday at 7:40 p.m. to the 1100 block of Franklyn Street in the Corolla Light neighborhood, according to Currituck Fire-EMS Chief Ralph Melton.
Emergency responders arrived moments later to find a the child without a pulse and still entrapped by the elevator.

DUCK, N.C. Multiple emergency crews responded after a fire broke out at an unoccupied house located in the northern part of the Outer Banks.
The Duck Fire Department and Duck Police Department got the call on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 3:21 a.m. about a house that caught on fire at 112 East Sea Hawk Drive.
First responders said the house was in flames when they got to the scene.
