When We Get it Wrong

One of the things the Catholic Church is often criticized for is their belief in the Pope as Vicar of God, rendering him infallible. Clearly, history is replete with examples of the Pope making questionable and downright erroneous decisions. From the Middle Ages to the modern day, we see examples that demonstrate the Pope’s lack of Divinity. This doesn’t merely pertain to the theological issues we can name, but rather to moral problems that the Catholic Church perpetuated under the guidance of various papal leaders. For those of us who are not Catholic it’s easy to point out the flaws of the RCC: from the politization of theology shown by the feuds with European leaders, to the indulgences the church sold in exchange for salvation, to the sexual abuse scandals that traumatized thousands of young people worldwide for generations. The fallibility of the RCC isn’t new news: Martin Luther famously took the RCC to task ....

Lori Lovely – CEG Correspondent
There are 13 cranes on the project, some large enough to drill a 10-ft. shaft.
The state of Arkansas embarked on its biggest highway construction program ever undertaken by the
Arkansas Department of Transportation, and the people couldn t be more excited.
Arkansas is a small state with a population of just three million, but this project touches every corner of the state, with a total of 36 projects in 19 corridors, said Keli Wylie, administrator of the CAP Program and alternative project delivery administrator.
The goals of the Connecting Arkansas Program include improving transportation connections between cities; increasing capacity by widening highways to four or more lanes; improving safety; and easing congestion. Supplementary aims of the program are to support more than 40,000 jobs; drive economic development by making Arkansas locations more desirable to companies to ....

Korean or American? | Adventist World

Over the past few years, I have been going on an identity journey. This journey has been revelatory in many ways. Very little is known about my origins and beginning. I know I was born in Korea and was in an orphanage in Incheon by the time I was 21 months old. There isn’t a trace of who my birth parents are, but a couple who hailed from the giant state of Texas came into the picture who wanted children but found it impossible to build a family traditionally.
Growing up adopted didn’t seem out of the ordinary. I didn’t feel a twinge of stigma or any sense of indebtedness to my parents. All along, the sense of family was natural and normal. I was not cognizant that people instantly recognized that I was adopted and had started out in a different country. As ....

Rob Vandeman, the recently retired executive secretary of the Columbia Union and former president of Chesapeake Conference, passed away this morning surrounded by his wife, Judy, and their family, at his home in Clarksville, Md. after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Vandeman, a dedicated pastor and administrator, served the Seventh-day Adventist Church for almost 50 years, including 27 years in Chesapeake Conference. Vandeman began his career in Chesapeake as the senior pastor of the Spencerville (Silver Spring, Md.) church, where he pastored for 12 years.
