Almost a year into the pandemic, 10 Mile Music Hall is still looking for relief

For any young business, encountering difficulties in the first few years isn’t unexpected, but the owners of 10 Mile Music Hall feel their situation is unprecedented.
“Soon, we will have been shut down longer than we’ve been open as a business,” co-owner Todd Altschuler said. “We’re not owned by a conglomerate. We’re in a super high-rent area. It’s a tough situation to be in, even among the other shuttered venues.”
The concert venue, which opened in late 2018, was forced to close its doors along with most of the community in March 2020 as the novel coronavirus swept across the world and local health departments worked to stymie the spread. Since then, the venue has continued to be on the hook for fixed costs and unable to refund tickets for most of its canceled shows. ....

DENVER The Colorado Arts Relief Fund has awarded $7.4 million in COVID-19 economic relief funding to 722 grantees. The grants were part of the COVID relief provided by the Colorado legislature during its special session in December.
Colorado creative businesses such as those involving music, theater, dance and visual arts have been among the businesses most impacted by the pandemic, according to Colorado Creative Industries. Between April and July 2020, creative industries as a whole lost 59,600 jobs and $2.6 billion in revenue, CCI said in a press release. The estimated losses contracted the region’s creative economy by 31% in terms of employment and 8% in annual sales revenue. ....

The Colorado Arts Relief Fund, a product of Senate Bill 20B-001from December’s legislative special session, is offering $7.5 million to arts and culture businesses, nonprofits and individuals affected by the coronavirus shutdown.
