Construction set to continue on new trail to Pikes Peak summit

Construction will be ramping up this summer on a new trail to the top of Pikes Peak.
That s how Jennifer Peterson describes plans for the third season of realigning the Devil s Playground route on the backside of the 14,115-foot mountain.
We re anticipating 100 (work) days this year, said Peterson, executive director of project-coordinating Rocky Mountain Field Institute. And we re really getting back to some steady volunteer opportunities.
Those opportunities last year were cut back due to COVID-19, she said. This summer, the nonprofit institute s professional crews expect to team up with groups like Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and Colorado Mountain Club, while also partnering again with Mile High Youth Corps. ....

Nursing students graduate from Colorado Mountain College program ready to serve community

Nursing students at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge develop close relationships with their classmates and instructors throughout their time in the program.
Liz Frisch, a class of 2021 graduate, said it’s pretty unique for a graduating class to be as tight-knit as hers, though. With each graduating class having only 12 students, they work together regularly to help one another succeed.
“Anytime you’re confused or anytime you run into a roadblock, there are people that will help you figure out what to do,” said Frisch said, who graduated from college over 10 years ago and worked in hospitality and marketing before deciding to change career paths. ....
