MILLERSBURG Holmes County office buildings are in for a major boost when a new wireless system is put in place that will increase the meg capacity from 100 to 10,000. Commissioners met with Blueshift Wireless co-owners Kyle Yoder and Dean Anderson on Monday to discuss the project, which will be broken into four phases that at the end will form a wireless line circle that connects all of the county office buildings in Millersburg, and will be accessible to businesses. Right now we have the existing fiber that runs through town, Yoder said. The goal is to make a ring, that is redundant, and also making it accessible to businesses. ....

Holmes County commissioners asked the company working on restoring the courthouse clock tower to check on foundation issues, and Monday received surprising results of their query. Doug Hooper, president of Midstate Contractors out of Marion, presented a report with estimate of costs to address the improvements and suggested repairs to the exterior facades of the building. The total was close to $2 million. We knew this was coming. We didn t realize it was this serious, commissioners Chairman Rob Ault said. This is something that needs to be done right away. We ve been putting money away for capital improvements, so it isn t like we re going to have to borrow money, Ault said. We ve been putting money away for quite awhile because we knew maintenance were coming up. We have capital improvements to keep that courthouse up.
