Sir Jim Ratcliffe s Ineos donates £100m to fight superbugs
One of the largest donations in Oxford s history will fund institute to research antibiotics resistance

Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s chemical group Ineos is donating £100m to Oxford University to fund research into antibiotics-resistant “superbugs”.
The donation from Sir Jim - who is Britain’s fifth-richest person with a £12.5bn fortune - is one of the biggest in the university’s history and will be used to fund antimicrobial research.
Ineos and the university said that 1.5m excess deaths a year are caused by bacterial resistance due to overuse of antibiotics. They said this is arguably the world s biggest economic and healthcare challenge after Covid. ....
