Crook County School District shifted to Comprehensive Distancing Learning for all K-12 students as of Monday, Dec. 14.
For CCSD, this was a difficult decision, as they have come up against significant challenges with staffing due to the pandemic, making it difficult to keep schools open. In addition, the latest metrics released indicated that Crook County had 98 new COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks – up from 63 cases the two weeks prior.
Since Christmas break is right around the corner, we believe this is the best decision given the circumstances, said Dr. Sara Johnson, CCSD superintendent, in a recent news release. ....

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) – Crook County Judge Seth Crawford sparked much discussion Wednesday with a Facebook post indicating more volunteer substitute teachers could reopen schools sooner. That prompted school district officials to lay out the possibilities and requirements.
The school district announced earlier in the week that in-person learning that began this fall, one of the few districts in the region to do so, will end and students will return to distance learning next week, in large part due to staff and substitute teacher shortages amid rising COVID-19 cases. ....
