Veterans who live near Springfield, Virginia, have likely sat idling in traffic on Interstate 395 on their way to receive health care in Washington, D.C. For those Veterans, navigating D.C.’s heavy traffic is no longer a problem – at least for their VA health care appointments. Thanks to ATLAS (Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations), those Veterans can now meet face to face with their VA providers through video telehealth technology in a private appointment room at American Legion Post 176 in Springfield.
The state-of-the-art appointment space in Post 176 is one of several ATLAS sites nationwide. ATLAS is VA’s innovative virtual health care option to help increase Veteran access to care. It not only provides a solution for Veterans with long travel times to VA facilities, but it also provides easy access for Veterans with limited internet connectivity at home. ....

Water meter fall update: City of Duquesne denies all responsibility for woman's injuries

PITTSBURGH – The City of Duquesne counters that it is not responsible for multiple leg and back injuries suffered by a woman who allegedly came into contact with an unsecured water meter outside a friend’s home and fell.
Tina Keeno of Linesville first filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Nov. 10 versus The City of Duquesne.
“At some time in June of 2019, prior to plaintiff’s fall, defendant was provided actual notice that the water meter was creating a dangerous, hazardous and unsafe condition, in that the cover was unsecured by Lisa Daly, a local property owner,” the suit stated. ....

A possible, but unproven, world-record paddlefish – estimated at more than 150 pounds and about 6 feet in length – caught and released in a Tennessee lake over the weekend, has propelled the strange species into the headlines once again.
Any catch of the oddly shaped, ancient fish generally makes news because the species is rare and not generally targeted by anglers. Those catches usually are bycatch snags by anglers targeting other species and hooking the paddlefish by accident. ....

Snow inch counts for Christmas Day storm in Erie, Crawford counties

Expect snow in Erie County and across some other areas of Pennsylvania, in some cases through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Erie County through 1 p.m. Saturday. Up to 22 inches of snow is expected.
The snow is expected to begin in earnest after 4 p.m. Thursday for much of the county. But just how much snow will we get?
