Chief Allan Adam of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation struggled through tears describing the abuse he endured and witnessed at the Holy Angels Residential School in Fort Chipewyan.
“When I came out of residential school… I rebelled big time and I felt good about it. What saved me was my elders,” he said. “This was an act of genocide by the Canadian government and the Canadian government has to answer to the world, not to us. We’ve been saying all along what they did to us and nobody believed us.” ....
