Comelec, poll watchdogs ask voters not to support politicians who engage in premature campaigning

In an online forum, Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said people should not reward bad behavior.
“Don’t vote for them. Don’t reward bad behavior. Make sure to choose those who don’t violate the rules even before the game has started,” he said Monday, June 28.
“Make sure to apply that same standard whether you want the candidate or not,” added Jimenez.
Poll watchdog groups echoed what Jimenez said.
In a virtual media forum, the COMELEC, National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), and Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) unanimously called on voters not to vote for candidates engaged in premature campaigning. ....

In an advisory, the Comelec Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) said their local field registration centers at Comelec Main Office, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Aseana, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), SM Manila shall remain suspended until April 11, 2021.

Voter registration resumes on January 4

In a tweet, Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said that voter registration will resume on January 4, 2021.
“If you missed the last day of #VoterReg2020, don’t despair just yet. #VoterRegistration will resume January 4, 2021. #MakeAPlanToRegister then. #MagparehistroKa!,” Jimenez said in his tweet.
In an advisory two weeks ago, Comelec said that the last day of voter registration for this year was on December 29, Tuesday.
It added that in observance of the holidays, there will be no voter registration on the remaining special (non-working) days and regular holidays of the year.
There will also be no transactions with the public including the issuance of voter’s certification, as all offices of Comelec will be closed. ....
