Corsham Town Football Club players were pitted against a team from Knorr-Bremse on Friday. The match raised money for Wiltshire Mind and organiser Kurt James, who met Liam through playing football at Trowbridge Wanderers, said it was hugely important to also raise awareness of the mental health support available. A minute’s applause was held in memory of Liam at the beginning of the match. “It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up,” said Kurt. “To hear everyone clap for Liam, across the stadium, did make me emotional.” The first goal was scored by Sam Houkes for Knorr-Bremse, but Corsham Town responded with a quick equaliser by Jamie Moss. A second goal, which blistered into the back of the net, soon followed from Matt Morris. ....

After plans by the Football Association (FA) to restructure the game’s non-professional ranks were given the green light last week, Bassett learned the Hellenic League Premier Division in which they compete will look vastly different to previous seasons. Collier’s side will be up against 11 new clubs in the 22-team league, with Wiltshire rivals Bradford Town, Westbury United, Calne Town, and Corsham Town all moving from the Western League set-up to the Hellenic League. ....

English football s governing body has altered all of its step four to step six leagues in order to support them with reduced travel and costs and provide greater opportunities for generating income via localised fixtures following the coronavirus pandemic. The restructure will see 107 clubs upwardly moved within the pyramid at steps four to six in order to facilitate the new divisions, with a new additional division at step four and two additional new divisions at step five as well as a reduction of divisions, from 20 to 17, at step six. ....
