Obituary: Robert J. Weir


Robert J. Weir, 78, of Stewartstown, N.H., passed away suddenly at his home on Friday evening, April 9, 2021.
He was born in West Stewartstown on Feb. 7, 1943, a son to the late Harlie and Hallie (Sweatt) Weir. He attended the local schools and was a 1961 graduate of Colebrook Academy.
For more than 30 years, Bob was a truck driver and construction crew member for Pike Industries, working on countless paving jobs all over the region in the summer months. For many winters, he worked on the lift crew at The Balsams Wilderness Ski Area.
Bob enjoyed his large vegetable garden every summer and he enjoyed fishing with his wife. He willingly admitted that he was often “outfished.” A bit of a homebody, he was always out tinkering on something or other in typical New Englander style, and in the winter months he enjoyed being out in his plow truck. His family will miss and always remember one of his many catchphrases, “Love ya, kiddo,” and his son Bob and fam ....

February 24, 2021LITTLETON Littleton Superintendent William Hart announced the final candidates for two SAU 84 administrative positions at last week s school board meeting. Both finalists were selected internally after an extensive review process.
Lakeway Elementary Assistant Principal Mark Fiorentino will become Littleton s new middle and high school principal in July, filling the role left vacant by Jennifer Carbonneau. In turn, SAU 84 Curriculum Coordinator Melanie Harkless will step into Fiorentino s elementary school role.
The selection process began in October 2020 with the development of a comprehensive posting for the position. Nearly 30 professionals applied for the middle and high school principal position. A screening committee of students, parents, staff, teachers, administrators and school board members reviewed applications and selected five semi-finalists. ....

Wayne A. Holden Jr


Wayne A. Holden Jr. GRANTHAM Wayne A. Holden Jr., 89, formerly of Colebrook, Twin Mountain and Charlestown, New Hampshire, passed away early Tuesday morning, Dec. 8, 2020, at his daughter s home in Grantham. Mr. Holden was born in Colebrook on July 28, 1931, the son of the late Wayne A. Holden Sr. and Florimel Gordon (Higgins) Holden. He was raised on Fish Hatchery Road in Colebrook and was a 1949 graduate of Colebrook Academy where he was a Future Farmers of America officer. In 1952, he served two years with the U.S. Army 20th Field Artillery in Germany. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Joyce B. King of Stratford. From 1950 to 1990, Wayne worked for the New Hampshire Fish & Game fishery division. For 21 of those years, he was the superintendent of the Twin Mountain Fish Hatchery. He and Joyce resided in Twin Mountain during that time until retiring to Groveton then Charlestown, New Hampshire. In 1974, Wayne became an income tax preparer. He considered the IRS “The En ....
