TAWAU: A pedestrian was killed after an Isuzu Dmax ploughed into him as he was crossing a road at Kg Iban, Jalan Tawau-Kalabakan, Friday.
Tawau Police Chief, ACP Peter Umbuas, identified the victim as Lasappek Lakubek, 60, a lorry driver addressed at Sandakan.
The Dmax’s 31-year-old driver and 29-year-old passenger, who both worked as mechanics, escaped unscathed.

Initial investigations showed that the vehicle was heading towards Kalabakan from Bandar Tawau when the 7pm mishap occured.

IN Sabah we have endured very poor road conditions for a long time. I have recently enquired with the Majlis Daerah Putatan how to apply as normal citizens to have their housing roads resurfaced or at least filled up to avert any accidents especially at night as the street lights are also not working at times.
After several attempts with telephone calls (mostly unanswered), I decided to surf the net to access if there is a web page. I was happy to discover their web page and immediately I filled up the relevant sections and hit “HANTAR”. It is almost two weeks now but yet to receive any reply. ....

SHAME on you litterbugs! I have seen some irresponsible individuals, who blatantly throw their rubbish from their cars onto our public roads and highways.
They calmly open their car doors or wind down their vehicle windows and dump their trash either while driving or stationary.

Kuala Lumpur: A systematic review of research globally showed sex workers have a 45-75 per cent chance of experiencing sexual violence on the job, said the Pertubuhan Kesihatan dan Kebajikan Umum Malaysia (PKKUM).
But there are no records shown on the statistics in Malaysia as there is no specific organisation directly addressing the sex workers issues except for HIV and Sexual Transmitted Infection, it said in a statement in conjunction with the International End Violence Against Sex Worker Day,
PKKUM and its allies and advocates have gathered to recognise the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers by organising against discrimination and remembering victims of violence. ....
