The Kansas State University Meat Animal Evaluation Team won National Champion honors at the 2021 Collegiate Meat Animal Evaluation Contest hosted in Manhattan, Kan. The team was recognized April 27 following the three-day competition.
The event was previously known as the Aksarben (Nebraska spelled backwards) contest. It now rotates among host institutions across the country. The competition includes live market animal carcass predictions and pricing, breeding animal evaluation and a meat judging competition. It is a capstone judging experience for students with its incorporation of so many industry-applicable concepts.
Results
The K-State team placed first in the breeding, pork, sheep and market animal divisions of the contest. The team also took second place in the meats, communications and beef divisions.

Their first dance was special for the two, as it was a song Baldridge had written years ago with his wife in mind. This first step into the next adventure of their life together was a dream come true, and they can’t wait for what’s in store.
“We were ready to settle down together. We started talking about starting a family and a life together, and we knew we needed to take this next step so we could make that happen. Katie makes me a better man. She reminds me to put others first and to love with a bigger heart. Dallas kicks off first in-home COVID vaccination program for homebound seniors
The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas and Dallas-Fire Rescue will inoculate 300 seniors this week.

For Albert Garza, this week marked the end of a long wait.
The 75-year-old received his first dose of the Moderna vaccine at his southeast Dallas home from two Dallas Fire-Rescue medics.
Garza said he wanted to get the COVID-19 vaccine a long time ago, but he doesn’t drive and he didn’t feel like making the trek to catch a DART bus.

WPA Pool / Getty Images The city of Dallas is launching a program to do COVID-19 vaccinations at people s homes. The city has partnered with Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA), a nonprofit that does outreach to elderly people. They ll identify Dallas residents who are unable to get to a vaccination site. The vaccinations will be deployed by Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff and VNA staff. They re going with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a single dose. According to a release, they ll begin with 500 doses, allocated from Dallas County Health and Human Services.
