The publication of the list of candidates for next month s local council elections has produced some potentially fascinating contests in some parts of Suffolk.
Two former chairs of Suffolk County Council are standing as Independents against official Conservative candidates in their current divisions - potentially splitting the vote.

Tory party bosses are not too worried about Guy McGregor s decision to stand as an Independent in the Hoxne and Eye Division - that has been solidly Conservative since 2001 and while Mr McGregor is well known, the official Conservative candidate Peter Gould is a cabinet member at Mid Suffolk and is well known in the area. ....

Leaders in Suffolk and north Essex have paid tribute to The Duke of Edinburgh who gave so much to our nation after Buckingham Palace confirmed his death aged 99.  
Prince Philip, who was the longest-serving consort in British history, passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
Following the news of his death, an outpour of heartfelt tributes have been paid by leaders in the community, such as MPS and councillors.

Babergh scrutiny committee suggests parking revisions


Changes to short stay car park charges in Babergh have been debated

Controversial plans to slash free parking in Babergh from three hours to 30 minutes could be revised, following the intervention of councillors.
Babergh District Council s scrutiny committee has recommended that one hour of free parking remains at most car parks, instead of just 30 minutes.
It has also asked that any changes are not implemented before September 2021, rather than July 2021 as planned.
Those proposals were approved by three votes to two following a lengthy three-hour debate on Monday morning, after counter proposals for two hours free parking to remain only received two votes in favour and three against. ....
