Lawmakers, not the electorate, will decide the fate of the Electoral College, but we the people can have a say.
Pew Research found in January that 55 percent of U.S. citizens support the popular vote over the Electoral College, though the issue is a partisan divide. What motivates those who would prefer the popular vote? For some Montgomery County residents, it’s that the Electoral College seems elitist, as opposed to a gatekeeping safeguard.
For 27-year old Tyler Myers, the Electoral College feels “like a haphazard attempt to get things organized.” He’s voted in three presidential elections, always putting the morals of the candidate above party. AUBURN — With the recent announcement of the semi-retirement of long-time Star editor Dave Kurtz, KPC Media Group would like to announce recent promotions.
Andy Barrand, KPC Media Group assistant editor, has been promoted to editor of The Star. Jeff Jones has been promoted to assistant editor of The Star. He will also continue his duties as editor of The Garrett Clipper and Butler Bulletin.
Barrand, a 27-year journalism veteran, started his career with the Herald Republican as a freelance photographer in 1993 before being hired as a full-time photographer in 1997. He served as lead photographer for KPC Media Group until 2008, leaving to take a position with the Journal Review in Crawfordsville. ....
