LONGVIEW, Texas Masks, social distancing and higher vaccination rates have kept influenza levels low in the Longview area, officials say.
Gregg County Health Authority Dr. Lewis Browne said flu activity and spread are not as bad this season as in recent years, when it has spiked in the winter months.
“I looked at (rates) last week, and we were probably 10 times higher, easily, last year,” Browne said. “The numbers have been very low.” ....

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Many people have reported having a reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine, in particular the second dose. The Gregg County Health Authority says having COVID-19 symptoms after getting a shot is, for the most part, a good thing.
Gregg County Health Authority Dr. Lewis Browne says he’s seen more reactions from one COVID-19 vaccine than the other.
“I’ve probably seen more people complain of a little more discomfort, or temperature or achiness in the Moderna vaccine compared to the Pfizer,” Browne said. ....

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - With area hospitals scrambling to create more ICU beds available for COVID-19 patients comes the question: who will watch over those beds? More ICU means more staffing.
Gregg County Health Authority Dr. Lewis Browne says tending to increasing ICU patients is a dilemma.

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The COVID-19 hospitalization rate has been above 15 percent of total capacity for 22 days straight. On Tuesday, Trauma Service Area G was reported at just over 21 percent. Gregg County Health Authority, and a local mayor who issued a warning about spreading COVID-19, share more about this situation.
Gregg County Health Authority Dr. Lewis Browne and Pittsburg Mayor David Abernathy aren’t in the same counties, but they are both in Trauma Service Area G, where hospital ICU beds are filling up. ....
