Much-loved Mike the milkman, who has delivered to the people of Stonehouse, Cashes Green, and Randwick for more than 60 years, has retired at the age of 79 with hundreds of well-wishes from the community.
His friends and customers sent gifts, cards and raised £845 for the ‘lockdown hero’ who brought extra essentials to people’s homes with his milk deliveries during the pandemic.
Mike Woods, who was also Mayor of Randwick in the 80s and remains Randwick and Westrip Parish Councillor, retired last month after becoming unwell.
“I want to thank everybody, they’ve sent me loads of cards, donations and gifts and I’m overwhelmed. They’ve all been very good, I can’t be more grateful really,” said Mike, who lives in Cashes Green. ....
